Rare Books, Maps & Manuscripts

The tradition for book auctions is actually even older than Stockholms Auktionsverk, and since the foundation of our auction house in 1674, these sales have always been an important part of our operations.

Rare Books, Maps & Manuscripts

It is a tradition which we are proud to maintain. We have sold books, maps and manuscripts from the very start, and The Book Auction Chamber is a well-known concept among the majority of Swedish collectors. We are the only auction house in Sweden that organises auctions exclusively for books and manuscripts. At our Rare Books, Maps & Manuscripts auction, we also sell prints from the dawn of the book art to the present day, i.e. everything from unique books and prints from the 1500s — and hand-written manuscripts even older than that — to first editions of classic Swedish titles such as Pippi Longstockings. Our Rare Books, Maps & Manuscripts auctions are unique in the Nordic region and attract a great and constantly increasing international interest.

Here are some notable records from last season's Rare Books, Maps & Manuscripts auction:

Famous natural cabinet of Albertus Seba from the library of Elias Fries - 300.000 kr
Extremely rare hand-coloured copy of La Fontaine's Fables illustrated by Oudry - 1755-59 - 775.000 kr
