Large folio (c. 555x375 mm.). Tinted lithograph pictorial title-leaf (Bay of Victoria, Hong Kong, some foxing), signed J. Picken, lith. + Dedication leaf (some foxing) + 1 text leaf (descriptive text and list of plates) + 1 plate "Sketch of the river Chou Kiang". + 9 tinted lithographed plates with views (all, some very minor marginal foxing) lithographed by Day & Son lith.rs to the Queen.
Loose in contemporary leather-backed cloth, worn, corners defective, titled in gold on upper board, worn spine damaged at foot.

The sheet of letterpress gives a short résumé of events leading to the expedition and, extracts, from the despatch of General d'Aguilar to Earl Grey and published in the supplement of the London Gazette, June 25, 1847.
