Object description
NIEUHOF (NEUHOF), JOHANN. Het gezantschap der Neêrlandtsche Oost-Indische Compagnie, aan den grooten Tartarischen Cham, den tegenwoordigen Keizer van China, waar in de gedenkwaerdighste geschiednissen, die onder het reizen federt den jare 1655. tot 1657. zijn voorgevallen... Benevens een naukeirigh verhaal, van al't geen de Jesuiten in China... Antwerpen (by Michiel Cnobbert) 1666.

Folio (about 310x197 mm.). (12), 1-464, (2, last blank) pp. Engraved extra title, title printed in red and black, one engraved portrait, 1 folding engraved map (mended and soiled in outer margins), 33 engraved plates (32 double-page, one folding, partly marginal dampstaining, some foxing, a few marginal tears), 104 engravings in text.
Later (early 20th century) full vellum, spine in four compartments. Some dampstaining to margins of several leaves, some foxing. Old annotation in upper margin of engraved extra title "Ex libris Maximiliani De Witte...", old signatures, library stamp, and annotations on first endpaper.
