Original vellum-backed boards, somewhat worn, spine title in gold. Bookplate of Helen Brunner, signature on inside of upper cover Lars Hall London (19)96. Edition limited to 450 (total number 710) numbered copies for sale in Great Britain, this copy is number 212.

Lacks dustwrapper. Portraits of J. F. W. Herschel, H. W. Longfellow, Alfred Tennyson, Robert Browning, Charles Darwin, Thomas Carlyle and others.

Provenance: Lars Hall (1938-2018), prominent in Swedish public relations, designer and art collector, who studied at Konstfack in Stockholm. Hall was an Art Director and one of the founders of the advertising agency Hall & Cederquist AB in 1973. He also started Gallery Camera Obscura and later Lars Hall AB, (art direction and design). He was also an avid collector of books and Fine Art photography.
