A PAIR OF POLYCHROME FIGURES, partly glazed stoneware, the faces, hands and some parts of the dresses are painted, modeled as a Mandarin and a lady, both wearing blue-glazed robes with painted floral roundels and a quadratic phoenix badge at the chest and at the back, he with official's hat and she with a phoenix crown, standing on square sectional plinths, 19th century, height c. 53 cm

Purchased in China by the court caterer, honorary doctor and professor, Tore Wretman (1916-2003), during the 1930-40's.
