TWO ARMORIAL PLATES, enamelled and gilt with the coat of arms of the noble Swedish family Klinckowström, the crest decorated with three eagle heads in profile surrounded by two eagles and surmounted with a crown of a count, the rim painted with scattered flowers, Qianlong period (1736-1795), diameter c. 22.5-23 cm
Leonard Klinckowström (1685-1759) was one of the shareholders of the first octroy of the Swedish East India Company in 1731-46, to which period these plates dates. He is regarded as the most likely to have ordered this dinner service.
