BO YUN (1948-), ink and colour on paper, Sailboat masts at night, inscription and one seal, c. 35 x 50 cm
In 1979, Bo Yun joined a group of young artists known as the 'Stars', who made history by hanging their politically incorrect paintings on the railings outside the China Art Gallery, where they were not allowed to exhibit. This act of defiance set the stage for an era of liberation for future artists.
Aquired 1981 from the painter by Dr Primrose Gigliesi, an Italian specialized in Chinese art, living in Beijing at the time, on behalf of the present Swedish owner.
