All fans of Oaxen Krog will soon have the chance to own an object filled with memories from the 17 years that the restaurant attracted foodies from all over the world to the Stockholm archipelago. All equipment and furnishings– from silver cutlery and plates to furniture and art - will be sold at an auction. From March 15, some 400 items will be displayed at Magazine 5 in Stockholm's Frihamn and at the web site stadsauktion.se.
"It will be really exciting to perceive the interest level," says Agneta Green, who now instead operates the deli shop Oaxen Skafferi with Magnus Ek. "The entire last season, we had many people asking if they could buy some of the things. We will now sell everything except a few selected objects that carry special memories."
In 2013, Agneta Green and Magnus Ek will open a new restaurant located at Djurgården in Stockholm. Although the regulars will recognize the dining experience and the friendly service, the new restaurant will have a quite different profile and interior design. This is why the owners chose to sell the furnishings from Oaxen Krog, despite their excellent condition.
Among the hundreds of nice objects, there are some who have a very special story. For example, Magnus Ek decided to part with one of his chef's knives, which has twice been involved in winning the "Culinary Olympics". Now, it will help someone else to succeed in the kitchen. Those who are more interested in drinks can bid for the fine wine cooler that used to belong to Mathias Dahlgren before it came to Oaxen Krog – or the exclusive champagne trolley designed by Magnus Ek himself. A number of beautiful photographs, they too signed Magnus Ek, are also among the many items that will be displayed at Stockholms Auktionsverk's premises in Magazine 5 in the Stockholm's Frihamn from March 15, before being sold at stadsauktion.se on March 29 and 30.
"It is the interiors of one of the world's best restaurants that go under the hammer," said Christian Minnhagen, Vice President at Stockholms Auktionsverk. "All the objects are part of Oaxen Krog's amazing history, and several are truly one of a kind. We are delighted to have been entrusted to hold this sale."
