Hertha Hillfon’s works went under the hammer today, and rarely – if ever – has an auction attracted so many people and so much attention. The bids soared higher and higher, setting one record after another for works by the much-loved artist.
Hertha Hillfon was a pioneer in the field of ceramic art, working more as a sculptor than as a craftswoman. During her most productive periods, she worked her way through an incredible two tonnes (!) of clay per year. She leaves behind her a truly impressive number of works, and the collection will be sold at a special auction at Stockholms Auktionsverk on 9 September this year.
