A Pale Celadon Jade ´Buffalo and Qilin´ Group, well carved in the round as a recumbent water buffalo with its legs tucked underneath and a small cub-like qilin at the buffalo´s right side, the pale celadon stone with areas of russet inclusions, wood stand, 18/19th century, length c. 7 cm, minor nicks

PROVENANCE:
From the collection of the Swedish architect Ernst Uno Borg (1879-1960). Together with Hjalmar Cederström, he founded "Cederströms och Borgs Arkitektbyrå" in 1921. Their most important works include the neoclassical Hågelby mansion, executed for Lars Magnus Ericsson, the founder of the telecom company "Ericsson". The two architects have also designed a large number of Swedish hospitals.
