A White Jade ´Squirrel on Leaf´ Group Carving, carved as a squirrel on a large leaf with furled edges, the leaf borne on a stem, the squirrel grasping a leafy floral sprig and lingzhis in its mouth, the stone of an even celadon-white tone, wood stand, 19th century, length c. 7 cm, minor nicks

PROVENANCE:
From the collection of the Swedish architect Ernst Uno Borg (1879-1960). Together with Hjalmar Cederström, he founded "Cederströms och Borgs Arkitektbyrå" in 1921. Their most important works include the neoclassical Hågelby mansion, executed for Lars Magnus Ericsson, the founder of the telecom company "Ericsson". The two architects have also designed a large number of Swedish hospitals.
