A Blue and White Porcelain Plaque Set Within a Wood Table, the plaque finely painted in bright tones of cobalt blue, with tendrils, lotus flowers, bats and peaches to the circel shaped centre, surrounded with ruyi shaped decorations interspersed by stylised lotus blooms, all borne on meandering leafy scrolls togehter with bats holding two chimes ´qing´ and four pairs of fish ´shuangyu´, symbols for marital happiness and celebrations. The plaque is set into the top of the wooden frame, the table legs are later adjustments, 18/19th century, c. 39 x 69 cm, wear, firing defects
PROVENANCE:
Purchased c. 1900 by Gustaf and Annie Wallenberg, during the period when Gustaf Wallenberg (1863-1937) was a diplomat in China and Japan. Thence by descent.
