A Rare Yixing Pottery Teapot with Cover, of hexagonal bell form with spreading sides decorated with archaic characters, the base with impressed makers´ mark reading ´Yixing Zisha´, the cover signed ´Mao Dan´, late Qing dynasty, 19th century, height c. 11 cm, the cover with minor nicks

NOTE:
The hexagonal form is more rare than the square bell form, otherwise similar to a square bell formed teapot with
archaic inscriptions in the ´Collection of Yixing Zisha Gongyichang Cang´ (The Collection of Yixing purple teaware factory museum) illustrated, item 116, p. 240. In Liang B, ´Yixing Purple Clay Ware´, Wenwu Chubanshe Culture Printing House, Taipei, 1993.
