Beskrivning

A RARE JUNYAO WATERPOT, of lotus bud form, a broad, bulbous body that tapers towards the rim, covered inside and out with a thick glaze of pale, milky blue tone enlivened on one side by a splash of bluish, brown and purple tone, and thinning to mushroom below the unglazed mouth rim and where it ends in an irregular line above the low, waisted foot ring to expose the stoneware body, Northern Song/Jin dynasty (960-1234), height c. 9 cm

PROVENANCE:
From the collection of the Principal Sture Nydell (1891-1986) and his wife, Valborg Nydell (1905-2003). The waterpot was purchased at an auction in July 1963 at Sotheby's, London.
