PHOTOGRAPHS FROM FABERGÉ EXHIBITION IN ST. PETERSBURG. BULLA, KARL. 8 photographs, gelatin silver prints, of the Fabergé exhibition at the Derviz Mansion, English Embankment, St. Petersburg in 1902. All mounted on cardboard and some with tissue-papers, stamped St. Petersburg and the name of the photograher, size about 290x210 mm (print only).
Some slight wear to prints, 5 boards with minor dampstaining, tissue-papers partly damaged and loose, some modern notes written in ink on verso.
Carl Oswald Bulla or Karl Carlovich Bulla (1855?-1929), German-Russian photographer, born in Prussia, founder of photojournalism in Russia.
Provenance: The Carlman family of jewellers. The firm was founded in 1855 by Carl Fredrik Carlman (1831-89), who became a Royal jeweller in Sweden.
According to the family, madame Fabergé stayed with the family (Sofie Carlman at Karlavägen) in Stockholm when she fled Russia in 1918.
