Folio (435x315 mm). Printed wrapper (with small owner's stamp "Helsingfors. G. W. Edlund"). Photolithographic title in red and black with illustrations, 41 chromolithograph plates (all), woodcut illustrations. Original printed and pictorial wrappers preserved and bound in at the end.
Near contemporary red half calf, partly worn and rubbed, gilt spine in compartments (bound by Fr. Ljunggren, Göteborg). Modern bookplate.

First edition. *Dal, pp. 281-3 & 312. Nissen ZBI, 3379. Fine copy of the finest natural history colour-plate book produced in Finland in the 19th century. Originally issued in twelve parts.
