(16, including extra engraved title), (1)-237, (11) pp. Extra engraved title, title with engraved vignette (lacking engraved portrait), 1 large folding engraved table (mended tears, partly with tape), 2 folding engraved maps (one with small tear in lower margin), 22 engraved plates, 57 engravings in text.
Contemporary brown mottled calf, worn, cracked in the joints, faded gilt spine in seven compartments, damaged at foot, damaged spine label, redspeckled edges. 1 leaf with tear in lower margin. Old signatures on first endpaper of M. Fremling 1795 and Ach. Kahl. Old signature on inside of upper cover Peter Dahl 1820.
Mathias Fremling (1745-1820), Swedish philosopher, professor in theoretical philosophy in Lund 1782. He had also studied physics, anatomy and medicin in Greifswald and Stockholm.
Achatius Kahl (1794-1888), professor in Roman eloquency and philosophy in Lund, later dean and rector in Lund.
See Löwendahl: China illustrata nova, 132 and 133. The present edition probably 133, a counterfeitof the edition (printed the same year) by Johannes Janssonius à Waesberge & Elizeus Weyerstraet (this names appears on the extra engraved title, but not on the printed, which says Jacobum à Meurs. In this edition there are some omissions and alterations.
