Flora Cochinchinensis: sistens plantas in regno Cochinchina nascentes quibus accedunt aliae observatae in Sinensi imperio, Africa Orientali, Indiaeque locis variis. Omnes dispositae secundum systema sexuale Linnaeanum. I-II. Ulyssipone (Lisboa, typis, et expensis Academicis) 1790.

Later (late 19th cebtury) brown full calf, somewhat worn, gilt spines in six compartments, new spine labels, inner doublures and endpapers. Some foxing. 2 volumes.
Pritzel 5637. First edition of the most important early flora and medical botany of Vietnam and Southeast Asia but also including many Chinese plants.
Joao de Loureiro (1717-1791), Portuguese Jesuit missionary. In 1742 he travelled to Southeast Asia remaining there for thirty-five years. He became a specialist in Asian flora and upon his return he published Flora Cochinchinensis.
