NAUTICAL MANUSCRIPT AFTER KLAS DE VRIES' "Schat kamer ofte konst der Stuurlieden..." part I-II. Not complete.
Folio (320x195 mm). (122 pages, a few blank). With 5 larger illustrations, 1 with volvelles, and many schematic illustrations.
Contemporary half calf, worn and with damages, marbled cover papers mostly missing. Text and endpapers with dampstains and other spotting.
Inside of cover with the signature of Christian Ludwig Rosse and the note "Dieser Buch habe ich in Wollgast gekauft... anno 1786" and with his large handpainted bookplate with his name and the town Lassan with the date 1786. Modern owner's stamp of Polish origin on inside of cover and on flyleaf which has a loss of corner.
This work on navigation by De Vries was published a number of times in Amsterdam by J van Keulen, this is probably a manuscript from the 1777-edition.
