EUROPE DEPICTED AS A QUEEN. MÜNSTER, SEBASTIAN. Europe as a Queen, no place, no date (Basel, Henricpetrina, about 1580).

During the late 16th century, a few map makers created these map images, wherein countries and continents were given human or animal forms. This map of Europe by Münster is among the earliest examples, it appeared for the first time in his Cosmography 1545, but continuously expanded thereafter until the 1620s.
