Hand-coloured (old colour) engraved map with figurative cartouche including sphinx, monkey and a sea monster, ships and sea beasts in colours. About 360x490 mm. Latin text on verso. Framed.

Van den Broecke 160 (1574L). Early edition without the 8 names in the Polar areas. 175 copies printed.
One of the most charming maps of Scandinavia, first published in 1570. This map was bought at Francis Edwards, London in 1952.
