Folio. (6), (1)-36 pp. With the dedication leaf to king Gustav IV Adolf. Lacking 8 pages. 24 engraved plates (lacking 46 plates, a few plates with slight spotting, text with some foxing).
Contemporary marbled paper binding, partly worn, damaged spine.

With bird plates of Corvus clericus (White chinned crow), Corvus pica (Magpie), Anas spectabilis (King Eyder), Anas erythropus (Lesser white-fronted goose), Sterna caspia (The Caspian tern), Strix laponica (Great grey owl), Falco lapponicus (falcon), Tetrao tetrix (The black grouse) a.o.
This beautiful bird book was printed in a small edition and is very rare complete. Plates were engraved by among others Johan Peter Boström and Fredrik Akrel. Anders Sparrman started to work on this project in1805 and the first plates were published in 1806. 68 engraved plates were published in 11 parts. 25 of the plates were also included in Sparrman's important work Museum Carlsonianum (1786-89).
