Hand-coloured engraved map surrounded by vignettes of town views on the upper border, and with figures in various costumes on the sides. About 395x515 mm. Faded impression. English text on verso numbered page 8 and 7. Minor spots to upper margin. Framed with double glassing.
Later edition probably published in 1676.
John Speed (1552-1629), British historian and cartographer. From his atlas Prospect of the most famous parts of the world, the first English atlas which was originally published in1627. The fine vignettes along the upper border includes views of London, Paris, Rome, Constantinople, Venice and Prague.
