Small 4:o (217x180 mm.). (18), (2), 3-912, (32) pp. Engraved frontispiece (lacks the engraved portrait), title printed in red and black with engraved vignette, 16 folding engraved plates, 74 engraved or woodcut illustrations in text, mostly fullpage.
Contemporary vellum, somewhat worn, spine with text lettered in ink. A few leaves with small damages at lower outer corner. A few leaves marginally dampstained, some foxing, some offsetting from plates or illustrations to text.
Nissen: BBI, 1018. First edition. With observations on Persia and adjacent countries, about japanese paper-making and Japan, a catalogue of Japanese plants, some notes on tea, and so on. Plates after Kaempfer with views, animals, plants, etc.
