BONAPARTE, NAPOLEON (1769-1821). Document signed "Bonaparte" as first consul, (DS). One leaf on parchment in large folio (about 445x360 mm). A "Brevet de Genéral de Brigade", an appointment for general Ennemond Bonnard, dated Paris, "le trente fruchtidor l'an onze de la République" (August 30, 1804).
Partly printed document with engraved vignette at the top, engraved by B. Roger and with paper seal. With a hand written curriculum vitae of Bonnard. Also signed by the war minister Louis-Alexandre Berthier and the state secretary Hugues-Bernard Maret. Handwritten parts faded, some minor folds as always, minor blue spots in the middle. Framed.
A nice example of a Napoleon-document, where he signs with his full "Bonaparte" signature, a more uncommon form of his autograph.
Bonnard (1756-1819), French general, fought 1781-83 in America and also at the Rhine, in Belgium etc.
Berthier (1753-1815), war minister in 1804, later a Vice-Constable of France (1808).
Maret (1763-1839), French ambassador, became a minister in 1804.
