2 GERMAN PRAYER BOOKS, 1585 AND 1655.
The Prayerbook of George Wickenstulschreiber, illuminated manuscript in German on vellum. Germany, dated 1585.
100 pages (paginated up to 99, omitting 2 pp. after p. 5, and omitting the number 14, pp. 94-95 cut away), 12 vellum leaves of later additional notes added at front and back (that at front signed in green ink by "Joh. Andr. Schuman 1721"), main text with single column, 13 lines in high grade ornamental script in blue with angular cadels, capitals and rubrics in same in red, initials in flowing penstrokes in same (some with penwork decoration), text set within vertical bars of silver (oxidised) set within yellow, and enclosed at top and base by penwork architraves surmounted by silver orbs with yellow crosses, smudge to head of frontispiece, other small spots, else good condition.
Contemporary binding of vellum painted red-brown (with wear to edges and tears, all now skilfully restored). Dimensions of leaves: 130x80 mm.

The Prayerbook of Anna Catharina Karbanin von Wollschan, illuminated manuscript in German on paper and vellum. Germany, dated 1655.
366 leaves (with single leaf at front with full-page painted coat-of-arms on vellum, that at back vellum pasted to paper, else paper), single column, c. 19 lines in an ornamental angular German bookhand (including prayers to Christ and God the Father, and other devotional texts by Augustine and others, all in German translation), one leaf at front announcing the owner of the volume, other leaves at each end filled with other devotional material or Biblical references in German (two dated in 1670s and signed by Johann August Bastell), scuffing across body of arms at front, else in good and solid condition.
White vellum over pasteboards, edges of leaves gilt and gauffered. Dimensions of leaves: 90x57 mm.
