Diderot, & quant à la partie mathématique, par m. d´Alembert. Édition exactement conforme à celle de Pellet, in-quarto. I-XXXVI + Recueil des plansches I-III. Berne - Lausanne (Les Societés Typographiques) 1778-81.

Small 4to (200x130) mm. 2 engraved frontispiece portraits of the authors, 445 partly folding or double-page engraved maps and plates, 18 folding printed tables (according to index probably lacking 1 plate [in vol. III Artillerie] some plates counts as 2 or 3, about 20 plates with minor spotting, some creased and some browned, some plates slightly foxed to margins).
Contemporary brown full calf bindings, partly worn and scuffed, richly gilt spines in compartments and labels, red edges, most bindings with damages to upper or lower part of spine, 5 volumes with larger damages, some covers to plate bindings warped and damaged to covers, pages sometimes "glued together" or fastned due to the red colour to edges. Text with some minor spotting, title of vol. XX with offsetting of text, some pages browned, some minor repairs. With engraved bookplate of Carl Fredrik Mennander. 39 vols.

Provenance: Carl Fredrik Mennander (1712-86), Bishop of Åbo (Turku) in Finland from 1757-75 and archbishop of Uppsala 1775 until his death. He was also a member of the Swedish Academy of Sciences and a friend of Linnaeus.

From the library of Anders Cederström (1805-1885) in Beatelund, Stockholm. It was later moved to Riksten manor in Tullinge, south of Stockholm.
