Small 8vo (140x90 mm). Half-titles, 39 partly folding engraved or stipple-engraved plates and frontispieces (minor foxing or spotting).
Contemporary brown full morocco, richly gilt spines with green labels, partly worn and rubbed, some covers slightly warped, one joints partly split, text with some spotting and foxing, some endpapers with small old repair. Bookplate of (Ambroise Anatole Augustin de) Montesquiou-Fezensac, Château de Bligny, and Gösta Nobel. 5 volumes.

Provenance: Gustaf Oscar Ludvig (Gösta) Nobel (1886-1955), youngest son of Ludvig and Edla Nobel, was in Baku between 1914-17 and later took over as Managing Director over Branobel or "The Nobel Brothers Company" . The oil company was founded in Baku by his father and the two brothers Alfred and Robert. He and his family had to flee Russia 1918 during the Russian revoloution.
