8:o and oblong folio (plates). Engraved title leaves (some spotting to first leaf), 1 folding table (on the steamboots of Mississippi). Atlas with lithograph title with vignette of the president´s residence in Washington, printed list of plates, printed text to plate 12, 2 engraved maps, 14 plates or plans of which 5 in lithograph, 11 aquatinta or engraved (complete, title loose with some staining, name in corner, maps with some spotting, map of the southern section with repaired tears, most plates uncut as issued, Philadelphia partly trimmed to upper part, text with minor spotting).
Text in early 20th century half calf binding with the gilt book plate of Torsten Laurin (TL) on the upper cover, richly gilt spine with red label (Norstedt & Söner, Stockholm), atlas in later blue paper wrapper with handwritten title. 2 volumes.

The first illustrated Scandinavian work on the United States with amongst others early views of New York with Broadway and City Hall, engraved maps of the northern and southern part of the United States (by C. F. Himberg after John Mellish dated 1816), views of Philadelphia (the covered bridge at Skulkyll), all signed by F. Akrell after Klinckowstrom.
Baron Klinckowstrom (1775-1837) spent three years travelling in the United States. Dedicated to count Claes Cronstedt.
