COLLECTION OF DISSERTATIONS BY LINNÉ - LINNAEUS (4 volumes). Collections of about 110 dissertations by Linnaeus, 1745-75.
83 dissertations (bound in 4 volumes) with a handwritten index at the end of each volume.
With 11 partly folding engraved plates, 1 table (lacking 8 plates).
19th century green half leather bindings, partly worn, gilt spines in compartments with gilt title, partly with split inner joints (L. W. Levins bokbinderi, Uppsala). Small 4to (c. 190x145 mm).
Some minor dampstaining and foxing. Title to first dissertation in vol. II with cut-out signature. Vol. IV with some minor worming in the beginning. Notes on flyleaves. Bookplate of Birger Strandell.
Some spotting, some with signatures on titles, a few notes in text, a few close cut.
Together with 28 loose dissertations, some of them lacking plates but complete unless noted (see list below).

According to the receipt, Strandell bought the 4 bindings at A. Seyler, International book and periodical service, Stockholm, in 1968.
Provenance: Birger Strandell (1901-1993), famous Swedish collector of Linnaeus. Strandell was a Stockholm physician and descendant of Linnaeus who built a private collection of Linnaean materials. A large part of his collections are in The Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation, Pittsburgh USA.
