Autograph signed letter (ALS) to the diplomat Ludvig Camerarius, dated Lutetiae (Paris) in December 1638. One page in 8vo (220x160 mm), address-page with red seals. Folded and repaired with tape, affecting address, browned, small loss of corner. Old number on verso 10380.
Ludvig Camerarius (1573-1651), German statesman, lawyer, minister and head of Frederick V´s government-in-exile in the Hague. From the 1620´s he worked as a diplomat for Sweden in the Netherlands. It was the father of Charles Gustave, Johan Casimir, who first initiated the contact with Camerarius (who also had a long correspondence with Axel Oxenstierna).
Charles Gustave was at the time on a two year study trip in Europe where he travelled to Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, France, Switzerland with a short stop in England. Amongst others he studied under the famous Hugo Grotius and at a well-known military acadamy in Paris.
