This kind of letter, dating from the revolutionary era, is quite rare.

In the letter Marie Antoinette expresses her wishes to the New Year and thanks her cousin: "nouveaux témoignages que vous me donnez de votre attachement au commencement de cette année --- au désir que j´ai de vous donner des marques de ma sensiblité et de vous faire ressentir les effets de l´estime particulière que j ´ai toujours eu pour vous (=new evidence that you give me your attachment at the beginning of this year --- to the desire I have to give you brand my feelings and make you feel the effects of the particular esteem I have always had for you).

Stefano Borgia (1731 - 1804), Italian Cardinal, theologian, antiquarian, and historian.
Cardinal Borgia belonged to a well known family of Velletri, where he was born, and was a distant relative of the House of Borgia. He founded a museum in Velletri, in which, during his whole life, he gathered coins and manuscripts, especially Coptic, and which may be considered as his major undertaking and achievement. Borgia was not left entirely to his chosen field of activity, and was called to fill several important political positions. He was made a cardinal in 1789. (Wikipedia).
