Folio (about 304x193 mm.). (20), (1)-326 (= 316), (4) pp. Title with large woodcut illustration (beehive and bees, mended tears, laid down on new paper, somewhat darkened), many woodcut illustrations in text (including 2 plates printed on both sides).
New (20th century) cloth. 4 leaves mended or reinforced in the margins. A few small wormholes in upper outer corner. Minor foxing. Small bookplate of Claas Mulder, Groningen, on title. Old annotations on old first endpaper. At the beginning one leaf with typed annotations regarding the book preserved. Bookplate on inside of upper cover (with duplicate stamp) of the "Library of the American Museum of Natural History".
