Contemporary London black morocco, slightly worn, finely gilt to an all-over pattern of drawer handle tools, quatrefoils, floral volutes, stars, etc, gilt inner borders and edges of covers, faded richly gilt spine in six compeartments, all edges gilt. (by the Queen´s Binder A, thought to have been William Nott). Bookplate of John Roland Abbey. In a new cloth case, with gilt bookplate of John Roland Abbey.

Provenance: John Roland Abbey (1894-1969), Military (Major), brewer, book-collector. His library was sold on auctions between 1970 and 1975.
