First editions with illustrations bu Turner and Stothard, which are in proof state. With printed label from backstrip of the original binding on each volume mounted on a fly-leaf.
This bindings are the work of Andrew Grieve of Edinburgh, the teacher of Charles McLeish, who, for sixteen years, worked as a finisher at the Doves Bindery under the supervision of Cobden-Sanderson.
