(18, lacks last 2 blank), 1-398, (8) pp. Engraved frontispiece, engraved portrait, folding engraved map , 210 numbered as well as several lettered or unnumbered engravings (many by Jan and Caspar Luyken after the author´s drawings) printed on 57 plates, 24 double-page plates and 20 folding plates (also panoramic views), 18 engravings in text (all according to plate index, a few mended tears, minor foxing). .
Contemporary vellum, somewhat worn, blindstamped decorations, partly mended in the joints, covers somewhat warped spine in seven compartments (with manuscript title: C. D. Bruyn Reizen I. Deel), red edges (some renovation with new endpapers). Some foxing. Bookplate of Gösta Nobel and one other.

Cornelius de Bruyn (1652-1726/28), Dutch traveller and painter. This is his first journey, where he visited Egypt, Syria, The Holy Land, Rhodes, Cyprus, Scio, and Turkey.
Provenance: Gustaf Oscar Ludvig (Gösta) Nobel (1886-1955), youngest son of Ludvig and Edla Nobel, was in Baku between 1914-17 and later took over as Managing Director over Branobel or "The Nobel Brothers Company". The oil company was founded in Baku by his father and the two brothers Alfred and Robert. He and his family had to flee Russia 1918 during the Russian revolution.
