Hand-coloured (contemporary colour) engraved map with figurative cartouche including sphinx, monkey and a sea monster, ships and sea beasts in colours. About 360x490 mm. Latin edition with Latin text on verso. Minor soiling or slightly staining to margins, small tear to centrefold, small repair on verso, some manuscript writing and underlinings to the text on verso, some notes in pencil to margin.

Van den Broecke 160 (1592). Later edition without the 8 names in the Polar areas.

One of the most charming maps of Scandinavia, first published in 1570.
