Printed map in colours with text in French and Danish beneath, about 320x420 mm. Folded, some repairs to folds, spot to Spain, some minor foxing and dampstains, small hole with text loss to text part. Framed.
Originally published with the title "Carte drôlatique d´Europe pour 1870", English version "Latest War Map of Europe, as seen through French eyes".
Caricature map of Europe with satirical depiction of the European countries. Prussia made to look like Otto von Bismarck, who is kneeling on a sleeping soldier = Austria, and covering the the Netherlands and Belgium with his hand. France, dressed like a soldier, is fighting the invader Prussia and Britannia is an old angry woman struggling with her lapdog Ireland. Spain is depicted like a lazy senorita almost crushing the small Portugese soldier under her. Russia resembles a rag-picker, waiting his chance to fill his basket, on his coat "Krim" has been sewn on last.
