RUSSIA. TWO VOLUMES ON NOBEL OIL INDUSTRY IN RUSSIAN (2). Title in Russian (=Thirty years of work of oil partnership production of the Nobel Brothers 1879-1909).

Folio (310x220 mm). Title printed in colour. Richly illustrated with 7 portrait plates, 4 maps, 29 plates in colour and black and white, of which 3 double-page, 10 diagramms at the end (on both sides), and many illustrations, mostly in black and white.
Full dark blue calf, upper board with title in gilt, also gilt title on spine, inner gilt dentelles, endpapers of moire silk, binding slightly worn, rubbed corners, spine faded.
Letter to Gustav Nobel taped to corner of title "To my dear Gustav Ludvigovich Nobel in memory of many years of friendship and memories of good old time", dated Paris (?) 1934. Blue stamp on title and last leaf (=Library of academy of history of material culture?). Some small spotting at the end. Bookplate of Gösta Nobel.

Publisher´s original grey paper binding with the printed title on upper cover, cloth spine, slightly rubbed and worn. On inside of upper cover Russian bookplate (Published by employees comittee of the partnership of oil production Nobel Brothers)? and bookplate of Gösta Nobel. 2 volumes.

Ludvig Nobel (Stockholm 1831- Cannes 1888), Swedish - Russian engineer, and brother of Alfred and Robert. He and his brother Robert started the famous oilcompany Branobel in 1876 in Baku. He also designed the world´s first oil tank, Zoroaster.

Provenance: Gustaf Oscar Ludvig (Gösta) Nobel (1886-1955), youngest son of Ludvig and Edla Nobel, was in Baku between 1914-17 and later took over as Managing Director over Branobel or "The Nobel Brothers Company". He and his family had to flee Russia 1918 during the Russian revolution.
