8:o. 1 engraved extra title, 6 titles printed in red and black, 4 folding engraved maps, 58 engraved plates, of which 49 folding (probably lacking 1 folding plate and 1 portrait, some offsetting from text to plates).
Contemporary brown full calf, partly somewhat worn, gilt edges of covers, richly gilt spines in six compartments, partly damaged at head or/and foot, redspeckled edges. 3 leaves with marginal tears, minor foxing. Bookplates of De La Haye des Fosses and Gösta Nobel. 6 volumes.

Provenance: Gustaf Oscar Ludvig (Gösta) Nobel (1886-1955), youngest son of Ludvig and Edla Nobel, was in Baku between 1914-17 and later took over as Managing Director over Branobel or "The Nobel Brothers Company". The oil company was founded in Baku by his father and the two brothers Alfred and Robert. He and his family had to flee Russia 1918 during the Russian revolution.
