Small 8vo (148x90 mm). (1)-170, (2) ll. Title and last leaf with printer´s device in woodcut.
Later full (crimson) red morocco binding, gilt fillets, both covers with the gilt Aldine anchor, slight wear to edges, spine in compartments and gilt title labels, partly faded, small damage to lower part, slightly split joints, all edges gilt (bound by Rivière, stamped on inside of cover). Old signature (17th c.) on verso of leaf 170 and partly on title, but has been shaved of.
Text slightly foxed. Bookplates of Charles George Milnes Gaskell and E. R. Sawyer. Old antiquarian catalogue cut pasted in on first free endpaper.

EDIT 16 CNCE 37595, Adams P18164. The only Aldine edition of the poetry of Pontanus.
