Contemporary black calf, somewhat worn, lower cover mended with new leather in outer part, upper cover with later initials E.I.P.Z.S. and the year 1721 in (later) gilt, blank spine in six compartments, new inner doublures and endpapers. Title mended in outer lower corner and with old signature of Sebastianus Meichsner and old annotation. Some minor marginal dampstaining. Minor foxing. Cut in upper margin, otherwise a wide copy. Old catalogue cut mounted on inside of upper cover, bookplate of Roman Kaczmar.
The only surviving work of the first century commentator Asconius (about 3-88 A.D.), pertaining to legal, historical and antiquarian matters of the time. The manuscript was found by Poggio Bracciolini at St. Gallen in 1416. This edition published by J. Lodovicus.
