Hand-coloured (old colour) engraved map with figurative cartouche including sphinx, monkey and a sea monster, ships and sea beasts in colours. About 360x490 mm. French edition with French text on verso. Small tear to lower centrefold, some folds, minor spot. Framed.

Van den Broecke 160 (F1572). Early edition without the 8 names in the Polar areas.

One of the most charming maps of Scandinavia, first published in 1570.
