Hand-coloured (old colour) engraved map with figurative cartouche including sphinx, monkey and a sea monster, ships and sea beasts in colours. Size c. 360x490 mm. Latin edition with Latin text on verso. Minor slight staining.

Van den Broecke, state 160.5, 1595L102 (500 copies printed). Later edition with the 8 names in the Polar areas.

One of the most charming maps of Scandinavia, first published in 1570.
