(8), 1-728 (irregular pagination, but complete), (20), (2), 1-104, (8), 105-120, (4) pp. Engraved frontispiece (loose, worn in the margins), title printed in red and black with engraved vignette, 43 engraved partly folding or double-page maps and plates (all, 2 with some marginal staining), 56 half-page engravings in text.

Contemporary vellum, partly stained, some warping of boards, inner doublures partly damaged, spine with manuscript title. About 80 leaves dampstained in the margins, about 10 leaves with some marginal damages. 2 old signatures on first title.

First edition of Dapper´s monumental description of Africa, covers all aspects of the entire continent as it was known at the time. Most of the double-page plates are views. Also translated into German, English and French in more or less abbreviated extent.
