The set includes i.a. four papers listed in Garrison & Morton´s Medical Bibliography:
Pedro Virgili [1699-1776], Sur une bronchotomie faite avec succés (1 [1743], part 3, p. 141-5). "Virgili is said to have performed successful tracheotomy at Cadiz, for quinsy" (G & M 3248). François de La Peyronie [1678-1747], Mémoire sur quelques obstacles qui s´opposent à l´éjaculation naturelle de la semence (1 [1743], part 2, p. 318-33 + one large folding plate). "´Peyronie´s disease´, plastic induration of the penis" (G & M 4163),
Jacques Daviel [1693-1762], Sur une nouvelle méthdoe de quérir la cataracte par l´extraction du cristalin (5 [1753], p. 369-96). "Daviel originated the modern method of treating cataract by extraction of the lens. By the time he made this official scientific report to the Academy of Surgery, Daviel had already tested his method on 206 cases, with success in 182. See. D.B. Weiner, An 18th century battle for priority: Jacques Daviel (1693-1762) and the extraction of cataracts. J.Hist.Med.All.Sci.1986, 41, 129-55" (G & M 5829),
Henri François Le Dran [1685-1770], Mémoire avec un précis de plusieurs observations sur le cancer (7 [1757], p. 223-310). "Le Dran´s important discussion on cancer for the first time discarded the mumoral conception of the disease. He regarded cancer as a local disease in its early stage and knew that it spread via the lymphatics to regional nodes, and from there into general circulation. He described with great clarity the path of metastasis in breast carcinoma, including involement of the lungs" (G & M 2607).
