FLOWER PLATES (3). BESLER, BASILIUS (1561-1629). 3 hand-coloured engraved plates depicting hyacinths and narcisses (later colouring). Latin and German text on verso. No water stamps. About 480x400 mm. Some foxing, some minor worming to one plate (not affecting the flower), 1 with minor spots, small dampstain to one corner, minor tear to margin of the narcisses-plate. All framed.
From "Hortus Eystettensis". This magnificient work was first published in Nuremberg 1613. This is a later edition, probably 18th century.
Besler (1561-1629), apothecary in Nuremberg who was in charge of the gardens of the Prince Bishop near Eichstatt.
