Original decorated red cloth, title and ornament in black, slight wear, partly faded and with small spot, upper edge of spine bumped. Signature on inside of cover. Owner´s stamp on last endpaper. No dustjacket.
First edition.
Cartier-Bresson´s first and rarest book which was never published or sold commercially. His photographs were taken during his trip to India on the occasion of the wedding of Princess Premkumari Sahiba in May 1948, with his wife Eli. Text by Max J. Olivier. The printing was ordered by the Jaipur Darbar and copies were given away as gifts.
