8vo (195x140 mm. binding). (viii), (2), 306 pp. Publisher´s grayish cloth, front and spine lettered in black, spine with knife decoration in red and black, front cover with a red question mark, upper edge red, lower trimmed, front edge untrimmed, illustrated dust jacket (not the 1st state jacket, this is a variant with advertisment of "The mysterious Affair at Styles" at the lower flap). Binding worn and rubbed, especially to extremeties and top edge of spine, some spotting and soiling. Dust jacket worn with damages and losses to upper part front and spine, small loss to lower jacket, creases and small tears, flaps partly soiled.
Endpaper with some notes in pencil. Page vii (contents) with some pencil notes, about 10 pages with folds to corners (dog-ear). Page 15-58 with a minor wormhole to lower right corner (margin), page 271- to the end with small dampstain, the last page and the last blank ones with dampstain to the corner.

This is the third Hercule Poirot title and the seventh overall book by Christie. It was published in London in June 1926 and in New York on June 19th.
Not the first state jacket which has the advertisment for: "The D´Arblay mystery by R. Austin Freeman" on the flap.
