Large folio (c. 580x405 mm.). Engraved dedication (with the portrait of the empress Maria Theresia) F. Morghen after Zocchi, double-page engraved figurative title J. G. Seuter after G. Magni, 24 engraved double-page views of Florence by J. A. Pfeffel, J. S. Muller, C. Gregori and others after Zocchi (complete, title with mended tear in lower right corner, split at lower part of middle folding, some browning around middle folding, plate XIII with mended tear in lower margin, plate XXIV loose in upper part of middle folding, otherwise some tears or splits at lower part of middle folding, a few plates with some partial browning around middle folding) .

Contemporary brown full leather binding with spine in eight compartments, worn, cracks in the joints, boards almost loose, damages at head and foot.

The first work: Berlin. Kat. 2700. A complete set of the finest pictorial record of the historical architecture of Florence in the XVIII century. All plates are after the design of Zocchi.
The second work: Berlin Kat. 2701 (for the 1757 ed.).

The Italian painter and printmaker Giuseppe Zocchi´s (1711-1767) most famous work. He was born into a poor family and studied in his native city of Florence. With the aid of his patron, the art collector Marchese Andrea Gerini (1691-1766), he was able to pursue further studies in Venice, Milan, Bologna and Rome. Commissioned by Gerini, Zocchi recorded the famous landmarks of Florence and its environs. The drawings resulted in this work issued in 2 series, engraved by Zocchi and a number of other engravers, including Giovanni Battista Piranesi?.
First edition, a second edition was published by Giuseppe Bouchard in 1754. The original drawings are now in the Pierpont Morgan Library in New York.

Provenance: Most probably from the library at Tvetaberg manor of Clas Anton Tamm (1807-1866).
